What if you have a 17 ft wall would you still build va 16ft wall then a 1ft wall?

Appreciate your videos and this has given me the guts to try out building a room in my partially finished basement( air and return vents are completed, ceiling is finished and insulation on my calls). How do you install CATS when there a finished ceiling in my basement? My floor joists are running parallel to the framing wall, with the last floor joist about a foot and a half away from my concrete wall. I have a finished ceiling up on top, with nothing to secure the top plate on.. Any ideas on how to secure the top plate where there is no floor joists would be appreciated..

Great finishing! My only comments are regarding closing in a window, your banding and drywall use. I would never put a basement window into a closet... natural light is worth more than gold for basements. Banding images showed many many locations where wiring was not protected by plates and could easily be hit with drywall screws. Finally, looks beautiful but have you never faced a problem with maintenance/upgr? By drywalling everything, you have made any maintenance a huge task for homeowners as they will have to cut/remove drywall and then have it fixed later.... drop ceilings for basements are wiser...sometimes homeowners don't think this thru but our job is to educate and then let them decide. Besides these, great work. Thx!

Wouldn’t you want to account for the thickness of drywall as well as finished floor if you want a true 7 foot ceiling?

Do the math. 20 x 24 doesn't add up to 5.7 feet. 20" and 24 " inches are the minimums. However, the other measurement must be increased to meet code.

Question: I just bought my first home, built in 1964 and the basement was finished sometime in the 1970s. The basement has a den and a bedroom already. Home is in Colorado, El Paso county. The windows do not meet current egress code. As long as I do not renovate the basement further, can I continue to use the bedroom/den there legally? I plan to rent this area of my home for extra income.

I make 4 squares out of scrap PVC trim I keep around, hole saw the center of the square the size of the column, cut the square in half, and use pocket screw holes in them to wrap the post then I attach my trim to that.

what a waste of studs. The Superior walls only needed insulation (maybe ??) and drywall

Great videos and tips. We tried this blocking and the Ramset pin didn’t sink into the wall. It turned and blistered a section of the concrete. Using 2.5 inch pins with yellow load. Any ideas? Should we drill and use tapcon screws? Thanks!

appreciate you putting all this knowledge at our fingertips. Is the starting price still around $55 sq. ft (given inflation and the increase of materials)? Does this include ceiling drywall? Do all the drywall installed in the basement need to be green/purple, mold resistant?

I'm so thankful for your videos. Almost done framing my basement. I have a question which sewage pump (how many gallons pit ?) can you recommend for the shower, toilet, vanity, and sauna. The main sewage pipe is 8 FT above the bathroom. Also, can the vent be shared with the vent in the laundry? Thank you !

Quick question. If I am using 1 inch foam board insulation panel between conceret wall and frame wall, should I remove the insulation panel from behind the wooden block which is nailed with conceret?

Probably a dumb question, but would you move the vent pipe first then frame the wall around it? Or frame first and cut the bottom plate to accommodate the vent later?

How do the vents come out of the floor? I would have expected them to be stubbed down from above.
